Koigu in the Stash!

Posted by Put a Sock in it on Wednesday, 10 October, 2007

Clear ClogsPostie’s been bringing me stuff again!

I needed something to show off my hand-knitted socks, right? I ordered these Sloggers Clear Clogs from Knitters Dream, and have to say the service is excellent. Linda is very friendly and very helpful. For anyone else thinking of ordering a pair, be warned that the sizes run small. I had to go one-and-a-half sizes up from my usual in order to get a fit.

KPPPMLast week I received a gift of two skeins of Koigu KPPPM, colour P105. Thank you! I’ve been asked to give no more details than that, so that’s that. The colours are gorgeous, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it knits up compared with the Shi Bui.

Some headway has been made on my Basket Weave socks. I’m past the heel on the second, and working my way up the leg. The first is awaiting the rib, but I want to see how long I can get both of them with the yarn I have. I have visions of casting off the first only to discover there’s less yardage in the other skein. Don’t fancy having to pick the cast-off edge out.

Mostly, I’ve been playing about on Ravelry! Because I wasn’t prepared to get my invitation quite so quickly, it’s been pretty time-consuming taking photos, and getting them uploaded to the site.

Sad to say, but not at all surprising, my fave browser, Omniweb, has absolutely zero support there, and many of the site’s features won’t work with it, so I’ve been flitting between Safari (limited support) and Firefox (supported, but clunky to use) in order to get my stuff done.

Since we’re on the subject of Omniweb, I might as well go on to rave about it. :) Quite simply, it’s the very best browser available for the Mac, and rest assured, I’ve tried many! I seem to recall shelling out around $25 each for my licenses, but that was some years ago, and the site now states that the price is $14.95. Mac Heads, it’s a steal! Besides, if more yarnies use it, Ravelry might eventually straighten out some of the bugs!

In addition to setting global preferences, there’s a nifty feature that allows the user to set individual preferences for each domain he visits; that’s things like colours, cookies, fonts, image-loading, and more. Then there’s the thumbnail tabs that make other browsers’ tab systems seem like something from the stone age. Oh, and the workspaces, and the shortcuts, and…. I could go on, but probably shouldn’t on a knitting blog! ;)

I’d give anything for your eye for sock yarn. You have such an eye for color.

Your Omniweb sounds nice! I am a PC user though. Too bad for me!
